Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge's 2008 Service Academy Nomination Announcment

Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge proudly announces her 2008 Congressional nominees to the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Congresswoman Fudge is honored to appoint the following candidates: Jasmine Showers to the U.S. Military Academy; Anthony Amaddio, Alexander Pace, Alante Stanton, and Matthew Webb to the U.S. Air Force Academy; Phillip Jennings and Anthony Miano to the U.S. Naval Academy, and Michael DeFelice and Grai Olesky to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.


On December 19, 2008, Congresswoman Fudge assembled her 2008 United States Service Academy Nomination Board for the Eleventh Congressional District of Ohio who assisted her review and selection of these candidates. The Board consisted of outstanding community members who drew upon their professionalism, military service, community involvement, and leadership skills to assist the Congresswoman’s review. Those serving as Board members for 2008 were: Mr. Pete Elliott, U.S. Marshal, The Honorable Mayor Daniel S. Pocek of Bedford;  Major Carol Tolbert, USAF, Lieutenant Colonel William Willoughby, U.S. Army (Ret.), and Mr. Chuck DeGross.


Students interested in a selection to these military academies must obtain a nomination from either the President of the United States, one of their United States Senators, or one of their Congressional Representatives. In addition, candidates must demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, physical achievement, and a strong desire to serve in our nation’s armed forces.
