WASHINGTON, DC– Today, the House of Representatives passed the Physician Payment and Therapy Relief Act of 2010 (H.R. 5712). In addition to providing technical corrections, the Act extends the current Medicare physician payment rates for one-month, allowing Congress more time to arrive at a longer-term solution.
Congresswoman Fudge voted for the legislation, which prevents 46 million Americans, including 1.88 million Ohioans, from having their benefits disrupted. "Northeast Ohio is home to compassionate physicians who don't hesitate to deliver topnotch service to Medicare patients. They deserve to be compensated fairly and I'm glad this bill prevents a cut in their Medicare payments," said Congresswoman Fudge. "However, this is a long-term issue, which deserves a long-term solution. I am committed to finding a bi-partisan solution to properly reimburse physicians for treating Medicare patients."
