CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE TO LEAD OFF "FIT, FLOURISHING AND FLY" EVENT AT JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY
July 15, 2010

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS – On Saturday, July 17th, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) will welcome girls and their families to a two day empowerment summit at John Carroll University.  The summit, “Fit, Flourishing and Fly,” is hosted by the BET Foundation and hosts girls 9-13 years of age, their parents and caregivers.

Fit, Flourishing and Fly includes workshops on nutrition, physical activity, body image/self esteem, bullying, and violence prevention. The high energy event concludes with an award ceremony and free concert featuring Cleveland’s own Britni Elise, a rising R & B/pop star.

The summit also provides separate workshops for parents and joint sessions with their daughters.

“Fit, Flourishing and Fly is a fun and informative event to help girls entering their teen years form healthy attitudes, make new friends and find the inspiration to reach their potential,” said Congresswoman Fudge.  “It fills a void for girls in underserved communities and provides useful tips for parent to guide their daughters on the path to healthier lifestyles.”
