CLEVELAND, OH--Today, Mr. Angelo T. Marshall, President of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 3283, announced that the Department of Defense has halted the termination of numerous Cleveland Department of Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) workers, pending in-depth, individual case reviews.
The Principle Deputy Director of DFAS, Gus Guftason later supported Mr. Marshall's announcement by adding that "DFAS has suspended termination actions in regard to background clearance issues for DFAS employees pending a review."
Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement after learning of the announcement.
"Finally Cleveland's DFAS workers are receiving proper treatment, but simply pressing pause on their terminations is not enough. Partial justice is really no justice at all," said Rep. Fudge. "DFAS workers deserve complete and accurate information about how and why their jobs are jeopardized because of medical debt or missteps with their mortgages. I won't rest until they receive that information.
"I'm holding a public discussion with the local DFAS union to uncover the truth on this subject. We're inviting my passionate colleagues in the Ohio Congressional delegation, and the DFAS National and Cleveland leadership to hold an honest dialogue."
More information on the upcoming DFAS roundtable will be released by the end of the week.
