Rep. Fudge Sponsors Resolution Authorizing the Lying in State of Congressman John R. Lewis in the U.S. Capitol July 24, 2020
WASHINGTON –Today, Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) introduced a resolution authorizing the use of the U.S. Capitol Rotunda for the Lying in State of the late Congressman John R. Lewis. “As a defender of civil and voting rights who served our country for nearly his entire life, it is befitting to honor the life and sacrifices Congressman Lewis made for this country by allowing him to lie in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda,” said Rep. Fudge. “I am honored to sponsor this resolution, as Congressman Lewis is a testament to both the difficult progress made toward equal treatment under the law and the work that is yet to be done. He exemplified American ideals of freedom, justice and equality, and his presence will be missed in the halls of Congress.” Read the Resolution here. ### |
