Rep. Fudge on Federal Disaster Declaration for the State of Ohio
March 31, 2020

WASHINGTON – Today,Rep. Marcia L. Fudge released the following statement after the President granted Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s request for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for the state of Ohio.  The disaster declaration will open a new funding resource through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help the state respond to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

“Communities in Northeast Ohio and across the state are struggling to respond to the unprecedented public health and economic challenges associated with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak,” said Rep. Fudge.  “State and local governments and voluntary organizations are working hard to address the fallout of this pandemic, and this federal disaster designation will ensure they have the resources to do so.  Federal funding will make a significant difference to the businesses, workers and families as they respond to, and eventually work to recover from, this crisis.”

On Monday, Rep. Fudge joined the Ohio delegation in sending a letter to the President urging his swift action on Governor DeWine’s request for approval of a major disaster declaration for the state of Ohio.

The text of the letter can be found here.
