REPRESENTATIVE FUDGE COMMENDS GREEN JOBS TRAINING RECOVERY ACT FUNDING

WASHINGTON, DC—Today the U.S. Department of Labor allocated over $4.8 million in green job training grants for Ohio, a significant portion of which will directly impact Cuyahoga County.

Representative Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) applauded the announcement, stating “These grants will create a bridge to employment in a burgeoning industry for the thousands of dislocated manufacturing workers and veterans in our communities."  Rep. Fudge continued, "Cuyahoga County is the site of the world’s first automatically operating wind turbine for electricity generation and our infrastructure and talent will reestablish us as a leader in green jobs and technology."

Below is a list of U.S. Department of Labor’s Energy Training Partnership Grants that affect Cuyahoga County.

1.    Grantee: Communications Workers of America (CWA) National Education and Training Trust
            Amount: $3,969,056
            Areas Affected: OH counties: Allen, Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Montgomery, Richland, Seneca, Shelby, and Trumbull

2.    Grantee: International Training Institute for the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Industry

Amount: $4,995,188
Areas Affected: MI: Detroit, Livonia, Ann Arbor, Warren, Wayne; OH: Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Youngstown; MO: St. Louis; Illinois (E. St. Louis); CA: Los Angeles, Anaheim, Long Beach, Riverside, San Bernardino; NM: Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces; TX: El Paso, Lubbock

3.    Grantee: Ohio Electrical Labor Management Cooperative Committee
            Amount: $4,826,073
            Areas Affected: Ohio
