Rep. Fudge Statement on House Passage of the Raise the Wage Act July 18, 2019
Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on House Passage of the Raise the Wage Act WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Raise the Wage Act today: “For millions of people across the country working 40 hours or more a week, earning minimum wages is not enough to support themselves and their families," said Rep. Fudge. “The current federal minimum wage has not been raised since 2009 – the longest period in history without an increase. The House-passed Raise the Wage Act will gradually increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025, giving 33 million Americans the stability they deserve. I am proud to have supported this legislation restoring the value of work and lifting 1.3 million people out of poverty, including 600,000 children.” ###
