 WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Marcia L. Fudge (D-OH) issued the following statement following the passing of Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA).

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of Sen. Kennedy. He was and will always be one of the single most important public figures in American history for his courage to unfailingly stand for what was right.  
Sen. Kennedy was a champion for justice, advocate for the vulnerable, and proponent of equality. Our Nation is demonstrably better for his selfless contributions and commitment to the public good.

He will be sorely missed. The impact of this loss resonates with every American.  

I offer my most sincere condolences and prayers to his family and urge all Americans to do  the same."
