Congresswoman Fudge Statement on Cleveland Clinic Raising Its Minimum Wage
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) releases the following statement after today’s announcement regarding Cleveland Clinic’s minimum wage increase to $15:
“Opponents of raising the minimum wage have not struggled to feed their family on $7.25 an hour. I applaud the Cleveland Clinic for recognizing the positive impact raising the minimum wage will have on the economic growth of our community. As one of the largest employers in Northeast Ohio, paying employees a livable wage shows a concern for others that stretches beyond the services the Cleveland Clinic provides to their patients every day. Raising wages to $15 shows a genuine appreciation for the more than 3,000 health care professionals and workers at their facility who provide medical care to Cleveland residents. I am thankful to the Cleveland Clinic for their commitment to helping families in our area rise above the poverty line and meet their basic needs."
