Warrensville Heights – Congresswoman Marcia Fudge released the following statement following the Agriculture Committee Chair’s request to eliminate open debate on his Farm Bill:

“Chairman Conaway has insulted the House of Representatives by only allowing those who agree with him to propose amendments to the Farm Bill. It is arrogant and wrong.

“Obviously the Conaway Farm Bill is so bad that Republicans are not only stifling dissenters, they are asking their members to support the bill as a parting gift for Speaker Paul Ryan. If that is how we now urge passage of a bill, we don’t deserve to be here. It is unconscionable how cavalier the Republicans are about the needs of farmers, hungry children, seniors, the disabled, and the right of every American to have access to clean water. They have abdicated their responsibilities to the people they represent.”
