Congresswoman Fudge Announces $8 Million TIGER Grant to City of Akron March 8, 2018
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) announced today the U.S. Department of Transportation will award the City of Akron $8 million in funding under the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program to complete Phase II of the Downtown Akron Promenade project. The project will help improve public health and safety, promote economic competitiveness, and foster a livable community. “I am pleased the U.S. Department of Transportation has continued to support Akron’s transformation into a 21st century city,” said Congresswoman Fudge. “These funds will help revitalize Downtown Akron and support local and global businesses critical to the continued growth of innovation in the City of Akron.” Background: In September 2017, Congresswoman Fudge wrote a letter urging U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to provide funding for Phase II of the Downtown Akron Promenade project.
