Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on Completion of the Arco Recycling Site Clean-Up in East Cleveland February 28, 2018
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement after the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) announced yesterday completion of the Arco Recycling site clean-up: “Thank you to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and local partners for cleaning up the more than 150,000 tons of debris at the Arco Recycling site in East Cleveland. The cleanup helps ensure that residents of the surrounding East Cleveland community live free of serious health and safety risks caused by the debris. After hearing residents’ concerns more than two years ago, it was clear something had to be done to eliminate this blight in the community and protect our local environment.” Background:After hearing from East Cleveland residents in June 2015, Congresswoman Fudge initiated and maintained contact with the Ohio EPA regarding the health and safety risks posed by the Arco Recycling site. Congresswoman Fudge sent letters to the Ohio EPA in October 2015 and January 2017 urging assistance to provide a cleaner environment for area residents. ### |
