Fudge Statement on Fifth Continuing Resolution
January 22, 2018

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) issued the following statement regarding her vote against passage of House Republicans’ fifth continuing resolution:

“Once again, I voted no on the fifth irresponsible, short-term Continuing Resolution.  Time and again, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have chosen partisan politics over the needs of the American people.  Instead of working with Democrats to pass a long-term funding measure, Republicans chose to shut down the government and create further uncertainty and chaos for American families and our military.

“As quickly as they passed their reckless tax bill, Republicans could have chosen to permanently reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), fund Disproportionate Share Hospitals, fund Community Health Centers, address the pension crisis for millions of retirees, protect DREAMers, and pass a disaster relief package that helps every American still recovering from hurricane season and wildfires.  When one party controls the White House, the Senate, and the House, there is no excuse for such a disastrous failure in leadership.”
