Rep. Fudge Encourages All Eligible Ohioans to Sign Up for Affordable Health Insurance December 14, 2017
WASHINGTON – Ahead of the last day of Open Enrollment on the health insurance marketplace for 2018, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement: “According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, nearly 4.7 million Americans have signed up for health care coverage since November 1, including more than 109,000 Ohioans. Despite Republicans’ repeated attempts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Americans across the country continue to prove the need for access to quality, affordable health insurance. “Last year, eight in ten people qualified for financial help to pay their monthly premiums. Millions of Americans can find health insurance coverage for little or no cost per month. I encourage my fellow Ohioans to sign up for healthcare coverage online at HealthCare.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596 before Open Enrollment closes tomorrow.” Since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was enacted in 2010, more than 664,000 Ohioans have gained health coverage. The ACA also expanded Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Ohio to cover 1,260,252 children and 206,885 seniors and people with disabilities covered by both Medicaid and Medicare. In November, Congresswoman Fudge released a video to remind Ohioans about the start of the 2018 Open Enrollment period. You can watch the video here. ### |
