WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement about the Ryan-McConnell billionaires-first tax plan unveiled today:

“The Ryan-McConnell tax plan is another broken promise to the American people. This bill gives tax cuts to the wealthiest 1 percent on the backs of hardworking families. Republicans promised Americans a tax cut in 2001, and again in 2003, that would benefit them. Instead, all Americans got in return were lost jobs, lower wages, increased deficits, and the largest recession in modern times.

“Republicans have put forth another piece of legislation that leaves middle class American families footing the bill for generations. I urge my Republican colleagues to stop working in secret and create a bipartisan tax plan benefiting all Americans, not just big corporations and the wealthy.”
