Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on the Trump Administration's Executive Order Undermining the Affordable Care Act October 12, 2017
WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement regarding the President’s Executive Order sabotaging the Affordable Care Act and directing the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Treasury to roll back health coverage protections for millions of Americans. “I am deeply disappointed in the actions taken by the Trump Administration today. This Executive Order circumvents Congress and violates the law. It is solely designed to undermine the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and puts too many lives at risk. The American people have spoken and it is time the Administration listened. This is just another attempt to dismantle the ACA. "The Trump Administration has already shortened the enrollment period and cut 80-90% of advertisement spending that provides critical enrollment information to the public. They are cutting off access to the enrollment website on multiple Sundays during high enrollment times and slashed grant funding for navigators who help people enroll in insurance. The ACA is working. "It is time we stop this deliberate sabotage and continue working toward solutions that expand access to affordable, high quality healthcare for all. The President is only making insurance companies richer. He would far better serve the American people by turning his focus toward reauthorization of CHIP and Community Health Centers.” ### |
