Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on Charlottesville, Virginia and the President's Reactions
August 16, 2017

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH – Today, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement on Saturday’s tragedy in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the President’s reactions:

“I continue to pray for the families of those who died or were injured Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia.  It is deplorable that the President’s most recent remarks regarding the violence Saturday reinforced the hateful racist messages and messengers of white supremacists.  Their attacks on the rights, role and existence of African Americans, Jews and other minorities in our country have no place in our society.

“As the country’s elected leader, the President must condemn, not defend, hate and bigotry.  As the Commander-in-Chief it is his responsibility to bring the country together, not tear it apart.”
