NACA 'Save the Dream' tour helps homeowners lower mortgage rates

by Kim Wendel

CLEVELAND -- The Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland will be the first stop in the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America's 2009 "Save the Dream" nationwide tour of cities with high foreclosure rates. U.S. Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (D-11) invited the non-profit advocacy group here.

The four-day event begins July 17 and runs through July 20. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

More than 500 staff members will be on-site to help permanently reduce interest rates to an affordable payment for thousands of owner-occupant homeowners.

There will be 250 counselors providing support.

All services are free and applicants can walk out the same day with a new mortgage.

Anyone interested in attending must pre-register for an appointment. You can do so online at www.naca.com or by calling toll-free to (888) 499-6222.

You do not need to live in the Cleveland area to participate.

You must bring the following with you when you arrive for your appointment: a month's worth of pay stubs; your property tax bill; your mortgage paperwork; a copy of your last tax return; and an affadavit letter of hardship.

Those that qualify can purchase through NACA's Best in America Mortgage with no down payment, no closing costs, without perfect credit and a 4.875 percent interest rate on a fixed, 30-year mortgage.

The "Save the Dream" tour has visited other cities in the past few years.

"I am delighted that NACA is bringing its unprecedented 'Save the Dream' program to Ohio to help people hold onto the dream of ownership," Fudge said. "I invited them after seeing the results of NACA's 'Save the Dream' events in Washington D.C., Connecticut and South Carolina."

The 2009 tour continues next to Chicago, then St. Louis, Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York City.
