Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on President Trump's FY 2018 Budget Blueprint March 18, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement about the Trump Administration's FY 2018 budget proposal: "The President's budget is a serious threat to the financial future and social progress of our nation. The Administration proposes a dramatic $54 billion dollar increase to defense, while siphoning funding from critical agencies, like the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Agriculture, research development programs, and infrastructure projects. "Further, the plan guts or eliminates several initiatives the people of the 11th District depend on - the Low-Income Heat Energy Assistance Program, the HOME Program, TIGER and Community Service Block Grants, Meals on Wheels, Pell Grants, before and after school programs, and public broadcasting. The President has made it clear he does not care about our nation's working families, children, seniors, or the poor. "Far too many essential programs are under attack in the President's budget. This plan is bad for Ohio and our entire country."
