Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Recognizes the Centennial of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
March 1, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, Representatives Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) and Patrick J. Tiberi (OH-12) introduced a resolution recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.

“I am honored to recognize the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for 100 years of continuous service,” said Congresswoman Fudge.  “In 1917, an innovative group of women came together in Cleveland to improve public health by addressing food shortages during World War I.  Since then, the Academy has built a profession that optimizes health through food and nutrition. I am proud of the Ohio affiliate’s work and commend Academy members around the country for their efforts and commitment to the health of all Americans.”

“I applaud the visionary leadership of the courageous women who, in 1917, met in Ohio to find a solution to a national crisis,” said Congressman Tiberi. “The work that members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics do is vital to addressing the chronic disease crisis in this country, and to reducing the costs of health care.  Thank you to the registered dietitian nutritionists and technicians, researchers, students and other food and nutrition professionals who have dedicated their lives to improving the health and nutrition of all people in this country.”
