Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on President Trump's Executive Order to Ban Refugees February 3, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s executive order banning refugees from entering the United States from seven Muslim countries: "’Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free …’ This is America’s message to the world. We have always been a nation of refuge, built by settlers escaping religious persecution and accepting of those fleeing war-torn nations. “The 11th Congressional District is home to many Muslims, who are a part of the fabric of our community. I fully support them and their right to worship freely. “Discrimination based on religion is squarely against our nation’s founding principles. It is time for the President to do what is right and live up to America’s promise.”
