Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Announces Nearly $13 Million in TIGER Grants to the 11th Congressional District August 2, 2016
WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH - Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Transportation's recent grant announcement totaling nearly $13 million to the 11th Congressional District: "I am pleased the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded the 11th Congressional District nearly $13 million for ongoing transportation projects. These investments are vital - the City of Akron will use funds for its Downtown Akron Promenade, a project to revitalize the downtown area, and the Reconnecting Cleveland project joining local neighborhoods to the Lake Erie waterfront, will be partially funded through this DOT grant. Join me in thanking Mayor Dan Horrigan, Mayor Frank Jackson, and all local partners, for their efforts to transform our region and improve our communities.” Reconnecting Cleveland received $7.95 million and the Downtown Akron Promenade project received $5 million. The funds were awarded through the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Discretionary Grant program aimed at investing in critical road, rail, transit and port projects across the nation. Earlier this year, Congresswoman Fudge sent letters of support for both grant applications.
