WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement in commemoration of Memorial Day, which will be observed on Monday, May 30: 

“This Memorial Day, I ask you to join me in remembering the brave men and women who lost their lives defending our freedom. Our state and nation are indebted to them for their service and sacrifice.  Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and communities.

“We also honor our soldiers at home and abroad and our veterans who have returned home. Many veterans live in Ohio. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), more than 830,000 veterans live in our state, with about 42,000 in the 11th Congressional District.

“All service men and women and veterans have fought hard to protect our borders and preserve our democracy. We must continue to fight for them. Supporting our veterans and active service members is honoring their service.

“Happy Memorial Day!”
