Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on $15 Minimum Wage May 26, 2016
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement on $15 minimum wage: “There has long been a need to raise the wages of America’s workers. The current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour leaves millions below the poverty line, as does the minimum wage of Ohio at $8.10 per hour. No one should work 40 hours a week and live in poverty. “I support a path to a $15 minimum wage. It is time to end the era of wage stagnation, lift millions of Americans out of poverty, and create a better future for generations to come. “I have discussed the pending initiative before Cleveland City Council with Mayor Frank Jackson and was pleased to find that he too supports a $15 minimum wage when done in a fair and reasonable way. I hope we continue to dialogue about the best path to $15; a path that allows our region and city to remain competitive.” ### |
