Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Congratulates Akron for being Named One of 50 Invest Health Cities May 20, 2016
WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement to congratulate the City of Akron for receiving a $60,000 grant from Reinvestment Fund and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as a 2016 Invest Health City: “I applaud the City of Akron for its commitment to improving the health of our low-income communities. More than 30,000 residents in Summit County remain uninsured, even after significant reductions in the number of those without health insurance. We must meet people where they are, increase access to care, and provide opportunities for all Ohioans to live longer, healthier lives. The City of Akron, together with Summa Health, the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation, Arlington Church of God, and the Testa Companies as partners, is leading the way, building critical collaboratives needed to move all residents toward better health.” The City of Akron is one of 50 cities selected from more than 180 teams and 170 communities. The Invest Health initiative focuses on mid-size American cities facing some of the nation’s deepest challenges with entrenched poverty, poor health and a lack of investment.
