Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Congratulates Tri-C's Youth Technology Academy for Winning the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition Championship May 6, 2016
WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) is pleased to congratulate Cuyahoga County Community (Tri-C) College Youth Technology Academy for winning the 25th Annual For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition Championship. The first in Ohio to win this competition, Tri-C’s team was composed of 12 students representing seven schools in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District: MC2 STEM, East Tech, John Adams, John Marshall, Design Lab Early College, New Tech West, and John Hay. Congresswoman Fudge released the following statement: “I congratulate the students of Tri-C’s Youth Technology Academy for winning the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition Championship. They are shining examples of the world-class institutions, teachers and talent in Ohio’s 11th Congressional District. Scientific innovation is changing the way the world does business, and our students must have the tools necessary to succeed. The Academy, NASA Glenn Research Center and other team sponsors are leading the way by helping them learn, grow and compete in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Congratulations again to our winning team!” Congresswoman Fudge is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education. Last May, she introduced H.R. 2155, The Community STEM Learning Act, to increase opportunities for minority youth in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
