Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Announces $200,000 in Re-entry Grants to Four Northeast Ohio Entities
April 27, 2016

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH - Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded two $100,000 grants to Northeast Ohio entities focused on juvenile re-entry:

“I thank the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for their efforts to help juvenile offenders reintegrate into their communities.  A criminal record can be a major roadblock on the path toward successful re-entry. We must find a way to remove this obstacle and open doors of opportunities for returning youth.

“Recognizing this need, grant recipients will use these funds to provide free legal services to eligible public housing residents. Services include record expungement and driver’s license reinstatement.  I applaud the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, and the University of Akron School of Law for working together to offer these much-needed resources. Everyone deserves a second chance.”
