I am a Proponent of All Schools: Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Calls For More Accountability February 3, 2016
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) called for more accountability in our nation’s schools during a full committee hearing of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, titled,"Expanding Educational Opportunity Through School Choice.” “I know that all of my [Congressional] colleagues – on both sides of the aisle – believe in accountability. We hear it every day,” said Congresswoman Fudge. “I am hopeful they are on my side in making sure that we are accountable for the dollars that we take from taxpayers. Whether they [dollars] are in a private school or parochial school, we are responsible to the people of the Unites States for their resources.” Congresswoman Fudge continued, “I am not really an opponent of charter schools. What I am, is a proponent of all schools. And, I would just wish that we would spend as much time on the schools that educate 95% of all of our children than the schools that represent 5%.” Congresswoman Fudge is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education.
