WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) releases the following statement regarding the resignation of U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (OH-8):

“I thank Speaker Boehner for his 24 years in the U.S. House of Representatives and his lifetime of public service. He has served this nation and the people of Ohio with honor and distinction.  He is a good man, and a committed public servant.

“It is unfortunate that when this country needs leaders willing to address the complex issues of our time, the far right wing of the House Republican Caucus has made clear that progress is not their end goal; but rather their goal is to tear down this institution solely because they can.

“The people of this country deserve better. I urge my colleagues in Congress to put partisan politics aside and work together for the good of all Americans.”
