Congresswoman Marcia Fudge Congratulates John Carroll University for Receiving New U.S. Department of Education Grant to Help At-Risk Students September 25, 2015
WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) is pleased to announce the U.S. Department of Education has awarded John Carroll University (JCU) with a grant under the First in the World Program (FITW). Totaling $1,293,616, the grant will be used to fund JCU’s Linked Learning and Early Warning Project, a program developed to help at-risk freshmen succeed.
“I applaud John Carroll University for addressing the needs of at-risk students from the time they enter college,” said Congresswoman Fudge. “Programs like JCU’s help meet students where they are and provide them with the tools needed for academic success.”
FITW is a part of the Obama Administration’s goal to increase access to higher education for all Americans. Through FITW, schools like JCU are charged with developing initiatives to address persistent challenges facing at-risk students.
“Every Ohioan deserves a quality education, but it remains out of reach for some,” said Congresswoman Fudge. “We all must do what we can to support our students and ensure access, retention, and completion.”
