Congresswoman Fudge Statement on the Confirmation of Loretta Lynch
April 23, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement after the Senate voted today to confirm the nomination of Loretta Lynch to serve as U.S.  Attorney General:

“Finally!!  I am elated Attorney Loretta Lynch now has the opportunity to lead the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ),  and will continue her outstanding service to our nation .  Her confirmation is historic.  As the first African-American woman U.S. Attorney General, she stands as a role model for others.  Conversely, history will record Senate Leadership’s shameful and protracted delay to which Ms. Lynch’s confirmation was subjected.  She is as qualified today as she was 166 days ago, bringing preeminent skills and experience to the position.  I hope this vote will clear the way for confirmation of judges, ambassadors and others being held in abeyance,” said Congresswoman Fudge

“I thank Attorney General Eric Holder for his enlightened guidance and service to our nation.  Congratulations, Attorney Lynch, on being confirmed as our nation’s top law enforcement officer! ”
