Washington, DC – Today, Representative Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement concerning government reform in Cuyahoga County:
"Of central importance to Cuyahoga County is economic competitiveness and equity – fair representation, better jobs and leadership opportunities across all of our communities. Ensuring the success and vitality of our community has always been my focus.
"As mayor and now as Representative, I have and will continue to propose change within Cuyahoga County to position our community for heightened economic growth and the creation of sustainable jobs.
"Earlier this year, it became clear there was increasing momentum for county reform. I assembled various groups to ensure the voices of labor and the minority community were fully heard. As a result of this intervention, equity is one of the bedrock principles underlying county reform.
"I am pleased the efforts for county reform are continuing with equity at the core.
"Since the full range of constituents have been represented in county reform discussions, I urge the committee to quickly conclude its work. I look forward to seeing a detailed proposal shared widely across the community. We must continue to engage a broad array of County residents and leaders as we fashion county reform to increase Cuyahoga County's competitiveness."
