CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE TO INTRODUCE LEGISLATION IN RESPONSE TO THE HEROIN EPIDEMIC
Details to be announced at July 18th News Conference with Co-sponsor, Congressman Tim Ryan

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH - Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) has announced plans to introduce federal legislation this week aimed at increasing community treatment options for heroin and other substance abuse.  The Breaking Addiction Act of 2014 will be co-sponsored by Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13).  Representatives Fudge and Ryan will hold a news conference on Friday, July 18th in Cleveland to discuss details of their legislation which establishes a 5 year demonstration project.

In addition to the Members of Congress, officials from the Cuyahoga County and Summit County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Boards, and others from the recovery community will discuss the importance of community treatment in responding effectively to the heroin epidemic.   Fatal drug overdoses are now the leading cause of accidental death in Ohio.
