CLEVELAND, Ohio - Rep. Marcia Fudge will host an Agriculture College and Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the Veale Center Gymnasium at Case Western Reserve University, 2138 Adelbert Road.
The college and career fair is open to high school sophomores, junior and seniors students who have a strong interest in agriculture.
Fudge, a Warrensville Heights Democrat, secured language in a farm bill that gave Central State University Wilberforce “land grant” status.
It joins 18 other so-called 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities.
Fudge’s goal is to expose high school students to educational and career opportunities related to the field of agriculture. This includes a broad range of options from food science, horticulture, pre-vet medicine, home economics and other agriculture-related disciplines.
Students can explore grants and scholarships and learn about internships and careers.
In addition to representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, colleges participating include Kentucky State University, Langston University, Cuyahoga Community College, Case Western Reserve University, Kent State University, Ohio State University, Tuskegee University and the United States Department of Agriculture.
Registration is encouraged and details are provided on the congresswoman’s website,fudge.house.gov/2014-agriculture-college-and-career-fair.
