WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) will travel aboard Air Force One as a guest of President Barack Obama to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan today, February 7, 2014 to attend an event at which the President will sign into law the Agriculture Act of 2014 (Farm Bill). “The Farm Bill Conference Committee, on which I served as Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi’s appointed representative, worked through immense differences to reach what I believe is a fair and balanced agreement. I am honored to see this effort through to completion with the President’s signature,” said Congresswoman Fudge. Background: Congresswoman Fudge is a member of the House Agriculture Committee and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight and Nutrition. Through her committee assignments and as a member of the Farm Bill Conference Committee, Congresswoman Fudge has worked to prevent deep cuts to SNAP (food stamps); expand access to healthy foods and investment in underserved areas; and ensure protection of sound conservation and agricultural policy. President Obama will deliver remarks and sign the Farm bill at Michigan State University's Mary Anne McPhail Equine Performance Center Friday, February 7, 2014 in the afternoon.
