CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE TO ATTEND NATIONAL MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR NELSON MANDELA IN SOUTH AFRICA

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) will attend the national memorial service for Nelson Mandela in South Africa as part of an official U.S. Congressional delegation.  The Congresswoman will attend the public memorial service on Tuesday, December 10,2013 in FNB stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mr. Mandela, who was revered around the world for his life-long struggle to end apartheid and who became his country’s first democratically elected and first black President, passed away Thursday at the age of 95.  President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter have also announced they will attend the Tuesday memorial service for Mr. Mandela in South Africa.
