Congresswoman Fudge Appointed as Leader’s Representative on the Farm Bill by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi

Today, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) was appointed by Democratic Leader, Nancy Pelosi, to serve on the conference committee for the 2013 Farm Bill.

The House voted yesterday to move to conference with the Senate on the bill, which expired last month.  Democratic Leader Pelosi named Congresswoman Fudge as Leader’s Representative.  Congresswoman Fudge is the Ranking Member of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight and Nutrition.

“I am pleased that the House voted to move this process forward, and that Democratic Leader Pelosi views my input on the Farm Bill as valuable,” said Congresswoman Fudge. “Going to conference on this important legislation is long overdue.  While there have been several dividing issues affecting the Farm Bill, I look forward to working with my colleagues in both the House and Senate to find a solution.  I hope the result is a comprehensive Farm Bill that provides certainty for U.S. farmers, ranchers, consumers and nutrition program providers.”
