Nation Observes Earth Day

WASHINGTON, DC –Today the nation will observe Earth Day, founded in 1970 on the premise that all people have a right to a healthy, sustainable environment.  More than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest secular civic event in the world.  Representative Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) made the following comment regarding Earth Day.

"Truly, every day is Earth Day.  The Earth takes care of us daily and we should do the same for her; for the well being of our future.  As a member of the House of Representatives' Science and Technology Committee, dialogue and policy on the development of clean energy is of the utmost importance to me.

"We must make investments in clean and alternative energy sources so that America will become energy independent.  Investments in solar power, wind energy and bio-fuels not only create clean energy jobs but are also an important element in our economic and national security," said Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11).
